#Sunday Stash - I Love My New Fabric

In an effort to keep my blog up and, more importantly, running I am going to link to Molli Sparkles' blog and his regular  Sunday offering Sunday Stash.

And I start with my latest acquisition - a kind of Christmas present to myself from Birch Fabrics and the amazing Mr Charley Harper (the artist, not the tv character).

These are the fat quarters.

My fabric radar has been on this range since it was first noted as coming soon.  So  I had to get some meterage as well, just in case.  Backing perhaps? (Or not).

One of my favourite things about fabric is the selvedge.

I love all the fabric - but my favourite?  This.

Hopefully linking now to Miss Molli.  Haven't done this before - so here we go.

Pink, pink and more pink!

My latest finish (in the washing machine as I type) is this gorgeous little pink cross quilt for a band new baby girl called Jasmyn.  A simple and easy quilt to put together but big on the *cute* factor.  I know Jasmyn is just going to love it.

Quilt Ladder

Just had to show 'n tell about my new quilt ladder made by none other than Mr Red Quilty Girl!
Isn't it fabulous?  And then, my quilts added to the new quilt ladder.  Who says I have a thing about Red?  :)  (Tried to get these photos to add separately but couldn't work it out.  Boo hoo)

This makes me very happy.

Phew!

Finally finished cutting for Bloom Bloom Pow, the Freshly Pieced quilt along. It's been a long, hard road. My hands don't cope well with extended cutting so I have done it in small increments. It is also the first time I think I have ever cut everything for a quilt before I have started to sew. D'oh! I still have to cut the black background.

Back to the cutting board!

Let's Get Going With Wonky Star Sewing!

Let's get going with wonky star sewing!

The best bit first - choose your fabrics.  With this one I decided to have the star all the same colour, so only two fabric choices.

I like to cut and lay out everything first.  That way I know there is nothing missing when I start to sew.  What a messy cutting table.
Sew.
Cut.
Iron

Trim
Lay out,, ready to sew together.  It's looking good.
Three rows of three.  Iron the seams in alternating opposite directions so that the seams interlock when pinned for sewing.
Pinned, interlocking seams!  What a lovely fit.
Voila!
Or this way with six different fabric choices.  What a gorgeous wonky star!  For all the instructions on this one you will need to check out Modern Blocks, 99 Quilt Blocks From Your Favourite DesignersThis one is called Parisian Star and is designed by Leanne Cohen.
Too easy.  Have fun!

Lovely Stars

These lovely star blocks are for Bronwyn Beazley in QCA Bee #2. Such fun to get out my old stash and find some Civil War fabrics.  Naturally, there is a bit of red in them both.  Because I can't help myself.  Everything has to have a bit of red in it.  At least these are muted, civil war type reds.
Now I wonder what April will bring for Bee #2?  I am way ahead of myself.
